ikea’s homemade is best.
I was helping a friend the other day styling a food photography session, but what we did is just so different with what Evelina Bratell did with the food photography for IKEA’s baking book “Hembakat är Bäst” (Homemade is Best)! When I saw these I was blown away. She is a genius. These are phenomenal! I think I’d love to own the book even though I wouldn’t understand a word! All of the recipes are Swedish desserts.

Pepparkakor – Ginger Thins

Mandelmusslor – Almond Shell

Vaniljhorn – Vanilla Horn cookies

Prinsesstårta – Princess Cake

Schwartzwaldtårta – Blackforest Cake

Lingon Peparkaka - Lingon Berries Cookies

ideas by heart.
I was at Amy Moss’ Eat Drink Chic the other day and she shared this cool and lovely video created by an advertising student, Annika Bäckström, in collaboration with Oscar Söderberg and Michael Sipos. I’m not a motion picture savvy kind of person, so this kind of thing really amazes me. The whole concept is so inspiring as well!

news + updates.
Hello friends! So sorry for the hiatus! I have been really swamped with work and haven’t been able to even browse the net for inspiration. My life lately has been consumed and spent in front of the computer. The good thing is, some new and exciting things are coming to Love Ardently!
First of all, in case you haven’t noticed yet, we are getting a blog makeover! Please excuse our mess, since we are still currently in the process of finalizing everything. You might noticed that things changed here and there. I am so excited to FINALLY do this. I’ve been putting this off for months and months, and last week, I finally got to start on it. In the process of the makeover, I came to realize that writing and maintaining this blog is often times a “getaway” or a “distraction” for me from doing our actually design works. The word daydream can be described as “a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one’s attention from the present”. I like to think of this blog as my daily daydreams, and therefore we have a new little name for the blog! :)
In addition to that, you might also have noticed that we have a different logo as well! I have been struggling with our logo for quite a while, and trust me, I almost pulled my hair out for the past few months thinking about this logo alone. It is so hard to design for yourself. Well, I have made my peace with myself and put my best effort and as a result, we now have a simpler, more straightforward logo. Yep, the birdie’s gone (which I am a bit sad about, but trying to cope with). We have decided to go with something that represents our image better and something that is more “us”.
We are also preparing for our first ever bridal show! *gasp* Yes, exactly in one week, we’ll be having our first ever bridal show in Fort Worth, TX hosted by 809 at Vickery. If you are planning your wedding and live around the DFW Metro area, you are more than welcome to attend this FREE Bridal Show! It’s geared towards couples whom are planning their wedding with $10,000 budget or less. We will also be launching our new flat-printed wedding signature collection at the show!
Alright, enough rants. If you look at the time stamp on my last twitter post, you’ll agree that I should quickly get some sleep now. Have a good Sunday everybody!

I can’t believe I just found out that this book is out for sale already. Definitely can’t wait to get my hands on this soon!
layered laser cut invite.
I was wowed by these invitations from the first sight. It’s an invitation to an annual event for interior designers and architects by The Design Institute of Australia, designed by Büro North. Because this year is Top 6×6 with six designers presenting six projects, the designers decided to emphasized on the concept of “six” and created six layered image different in color and composition, each laser-cut to create depth. The designers hand-assembled and laset-cut these by themselves. Amazing, yes?

A new-found favorite stationary store from Norway! Darling Clementine‘s illustration style is truly darling indeed. I want everything on their Etsy store!

it’s been two years.
Last week, our little family turned into 2 years old. I thank God and I feel so blessed and grateful for my amazing husband. He’s perfect for me in every way :) The husband and I decided to just go out to eat. Simple, but it was one of the most enjoyable celebration ever. We went to Daddy Jack’s, a local seafood restaurant with relaxing atmosphere, greatest service, and SUPERB food (and generous portion too!). I just loved it. The husband usually complains a bit whenever we go to a fine-dining restaurant ’cause most of their portion are tiny. He surely did not complain a bit last week.

Sorry, I didn’t even bother making sure to get the food shot perfectly ’cause all I wanted to do at the time was to start eating! And believe me, that dinner did NOT cost us a fortune. We’ll definitely be back!
Then, about a few days after, one of our good friends who has just turned into a photography aficionado offered to take our photos to build his portfolio. What a nice coincidence, so we happily agreed. I was excited because I had some cute ideas in mind to bring out our personality in the images.
So, here we go.

It’s “heartfelt” :)

The banner on the shot below came from a baby shower decoration I did last year. Remember?

Last but not least, my favorite of all, just ’cause this shot is “so us” :)
