for the little ones.

Or… for the grown-up who’s not afraid to admit that they love these stuffs, too.

I came across the ReForm School shop via Jessica Hische’s twitter and I was completely hooked to their stuffs especially the ones in the child development section. For kids, that is. I mean, who wouldn’t love these super adorable stuffs?

yoo byun.

I’m constantly blown away by illustrators, especially children book illustrators, who have such a distinct style. I came across one of Yoo Byun’s work through Share Some Candy and I was totally smitten. Her illustrations have such a lovely color palette and they’re just delightfully whimsical.

test tube vase.

These test tube vases from Pigeon Toe ceramics are just pure loveliness. You can have it hanging or mounted on the wall. So delightful to have around in the house :)

the red balloon.

This is the kind of Save The Date design that makes you just absolutely want to save the date. Simple and creative. A result of brilliant idea that was excellently designed and very well executed. Definitely one of the best I’ve seen in a long time. The revealed production cost was not ridiculously expensive either. Designed by L’Office Optimiste, via FPO.

eep.

Easter and bunny peeps-eating might have passed but looking at this particular diorama from The Washington Post’s Peeps Show totally made my day :) It’s not surprising that this diorama, which idea was taken from one of my most favorite movie ever “Up”, ended up being the winner of the show.

This is how they created the “illusion” of the house being off the ground.

And here’s my favorite detail of the diorama…

Isn’t that just simply adorable?!

from plain to purdy.

Ooops… it’s been too long since I last blog. I have to tell you that I haven’t been around blogs lately. I have hundreds of unread post in my Google Reader which explains how long I’ve been away. Sorry! I’ve just been doing a lot of work + school stuffs (read: designing, screen printing, practicing piano, learning chinese, etc…).

So, first of all, happy (belated) Easter to you! Last week, I was in need of an outfit for Easter. I had such a low and tight budget, so it seemed like I couldn’t buy a new outfit. I open up my closet to look for something decent and found this plain, boring, white cardigan from Target. I thought I could pair it with a black and white dress that I have.

Trying to be savvy on a low-budget, I decided to jazz it up just a bit. Not that I have a lot of “fashion” related post on this blog, but I thought I just wanted to share this quickie DIY project :) So, I went to a fabric store and bought some black lace. Also, I always love to browse on the remnant section just because lots of times there’s a lot of great leftover fabrics with marked down prices. I found some black organza and black polyester remnant and which were 50% off (score!). I spent about $5 total in the fabric store, *ka-ching!* Not bad.

Then I got home, spent about an hour to sew using my two bare hands, and voila…

And here it is in action on Easter day. Next to me was the husband, of course.

vintage children book illustration.

It’s no secret that I love children books a lot. On my spare time (which rarely ever happened these days), I often go to the library and browse around their children book collection. I was on Flickr the other day and stumbled upon vintage children book collection by trywhistlingthis. She also did a marvelous job of keeping track of the author and illustrator names. What a delight!

sea life by thomas paul

I feel so bad for having neglected my blog for quite a while. Sorry! I have no reason other than being swamped in school and work. It’s Spring Break now, though, so I’m back to blogging.

We don’t own a house just yet, but when we have one, we knew we want to decorate it around the theme of nautical elements and the sea life. We both just love beach and sea creatures so much. Hub’s number one hobby is fishing and although fishing is not always super fun for me, I love to tag along most of the time, just like what we did last weekend.

That’s right. Spring has finally sprung in Dallas. Hooray for lovely weather from now on (hopefully)!

Back to the sea life theme, when I found these sea life and nautical collections by Thomas Paul, I was screaming, “Perfect!”. They are in a perfect color palette we intended our future house to be and the overall design style can’t be more suitable. Just love it.

Here are the melamine plates, which would look lovely on the wall (what?!). Yes, on the wall like these.

We don’t currently use coasters, but certainly will especially with coasters as lovely as these.

Perfect coral rugs.

Vintage nautical beauties.

And other non-coastal items by Thomas Paul also made me swoon. The doily plates and the wood pillow are my two favorites!

jeff and jessica on southern weddings

I couldn’t be more excited! Remember Jeff and Jessica? We designed their invitation and wedding stationery a while ago. They have just been featured on the Southern Weddings blog! Click here for part one and part two. Their photographs were all taken by Josh McCullock.

a shoe named ivana.

I’ve never known any shoe that has the same name as me, so I was particularly EXCITED when I found this on Zappos.

Plus, I am looking for a pair of shoe in champagne or gold-ish color (*check*) for my bridesmaid duty to my best friend this coming June. Although this one has a medium-width, I’m just not sure if I’ll be comfortable standing all day long in a 4 1/2″ heel. Moreover, not sure if my hubs is gonna be too happy looking at the price tag. But, it’s cute! Really cute rosette tulle on the side! And it has the same name as me! Looks like we’re destined together, no?
