I just love this handmade, mix-media Cadbury hot chocolate ad designed by Owen Gildersleeve. Quoting from his portfolio website, he created the ad out of a mixture of found and handmade winter items, like pine needles, snowflakes, woolen jumpers and miniature ice-skates. Isn’t that fabulous? Love, love it!

Dallas is still icy, snowy, and slippery today. Hopefully it will get better in time for the Super Bowl visitors. Meanwhile, there’s nothing better for me than get cozzied up on a comfy sofa with blanket and a cup of hot chocolate.  Have a happy weekend everyone!

I used to think that a chair is just a chair. You know, something for you to sit on. Thanks to the History of Design class I took when I was pursuing my bachelor’s degree, I came to know a bit about the wonderful world of designer chair and furniture.

The chairs above, though, are the miniature version of the original chair, manufactured by REAC Japan. To be exact, it is 1/12 smaller than the original, so you can literally place it on the palm of your hand. These chairs would look great on every interior designer’s desks :) It comes in blind assortment boxes, which is also sold by Kidrobot. I know some of you are drooling, but some of these chairs are really rare. For example, that Ponyskin Chaise Lounge by Le Corbusier was only produced 3000 items worldwide. Since it has been produced/launched since last year, chances are a lot of the rare chairs are no longer in the blind boxes, but hey who knows! :)

Some of my favorite designs: Rietveld‘s armchair and zigzag chair, all Eames chairs (of course), especially the lounge chair, the ottoman, the elephant chairs, and the red plastic armchair with rocking base, Jacobsen‘s egg chair and ant chair, Mies Van Der Rohe‘s barcelona chair, and Nelson‘s marshmallow sofa.

This is how they created the “illusion” of the house being off the ground.

Isn’t that just simply adorable?!

Here comes another vintage treasures. When I discovered this Betsy McCall paper doll site, I was immediately feeling nostalgic. Although I didn’t grow up with Betsy specifically, I did grow up with lots and lots of paper dolls. I probably bought them almost everyday at the street stand in front of my school. Gee, how long ago was that? So nostalgic! *squeals*

Being a bit environmental friendly, I put together my Betsy paper dolls on Photoshop with the handy Magnetic lasso tool. Of course it’s more fun to print it and cut it, but oh well… :)

Do you love what you do? This is often a discussion I have with my hub. Now that I am self-employed and freelancing, I think more about it these days. This design brings back memories of college life. Staying up all night doing projects and having to present it in the morning. Trying to get a ride to the nearest Ace Hardware for nuts and bolts to bind this book design. Brainstorming for ideas and writing them on a huge wall of white board. Ah, the innocent and young days! I kinda miss those days :)
