It’s no secret that I love children books a lot. On my spare time (which rarely ever happened these days), I often go to the library and browse around their children book collection. I was on Flickr the other day and stumbled upon vintage children book collection by trywhistlingthis. She also did a marvelous job of keeping track of the author and illustrator names. What a delight!

Book Delight: In The Night Kitchen.

The first day of the last month in 2009! Oh wow, time flies so quickly! I know I’ve been MIA on the blog for days. One of the reason is of course the Thanksgiving holiday. Then, the final week is also coming and I’ve just been busy with school stuffs along with preparing for more stuffs for my Etsy store. Right now, we do have the 2010 Calendar in wall format and desktop format (with acrylic jewel case), so check it out! :)

In the midst of all this, today I managed to (finally) pick up my library book orders. I was tempted to spend more time in the library, and i did (even though I was supposed to go straight home). My favorite section is the children’s books where I usually just sit on the aisle and start to just picking books and read. I was really intrigued by this particular book by Maurice Sendak. I knew about Where The Wild Things Are, of course, but didn’t know that he also wrote and illustrate this book. I just love his unique story line, wittiness, and illustration style!

I really, really like this particular “kitchen town” illustration, where the buildings are in form of kitchen utensils and stuffs like mixer, funnel, milk carton, etc… I want to live there! :)

Oh, how I love Etsy browsing! This is such a cool book titled Thumb War by John Hersey. The book is hand-bound and letterpress printed in two colors using a Vandercook 4 at San Francisco Center for the Book. The covers are laser-cut into finish grade plywood, with a small number of them laser-cut into chipboard.

Book design has always been one of my passion in design. I’ve been browsing a lot about printmaking methods and i think this book is so awesome!

This book has truly stole my heart! It’s filled with vintage design, typefaces, ornaments, borders and it’s just so, so charming.

This particular type treatment (Restraint) is actually designed by Marian Bantjes, one of my typography hero.
