Lubalin Now.

As a typography nerd, I really wish I can come to this exhibition! Lubalin Now is an exhibition on view in Cooper Union’s new gallery, which includes recent posters, publications, and motion graphics by internationally recognized graphic designers that spotlight an emerging trend toward expressive lettering and typography. Herb Lubalin is truly a legendary designer and typographer that I adore ever since I got to know him from design classes. Marian Bantjes (my other type hero) and Jessica Hische‘s works are also exhibited.

Whoahh… it’s been a busy week for me. I’m not particularly glad that it’s the weekend already because I’m so much in a working mode *huh*. Anyways, here are five of my favorite finds this Friday. Have a great weekend, y’all!

. Mini Creamers. Seriously, how adorable are these little guys! I’m not just thinking creamers. I’m thinking it’s also perfect for little flowers. Via Divine Caroline.

. Das Jahr Poster by Marlene Reidel. I’ve been painting so much this week and that’s why I can TRULY appreciate the artist behind this AH-mazing poster! Beautiful details! Makes me happy just looking at it through my screen :)

. Sticky Advice Tape. Types on a tape! :) Via Divine Caroline.

. Bread Shoes. Not sure what I feel about this *lol* It’s pretty amusing!

. Gocco feature on SSC. This reminds me that I really need to get my little machine out from under my couch. I have a gem under my couch and I haven’t been using it!

Thumb War

Oh, how I love Etsy browsing! This is such a cool book titled Thumb War by John Hersey. The book is hand-bound and letterpress printed in two colors using a Vandercook 4 at San Francisco Center for the Book. The covers are laser-cut into finish grade plywood, with a small number of them laser-cut into chipboard.

Book design has always been one of my passion in design. I’ve been browsing a lot about printmaking methods and i think this book is so awesome!

So wonderfully creative. This was done on gouache by Andrea Kalfas. I’ve been wanting to try gouache for a while!
